Making the Most of Our Time
Abraham Lincoln said, “And in the end, it’s not the years of your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” The question I pose to myself so often is “Am I making the most of my time here on earth?” I think it’s a good question to ask ourselves periodically. I want to make the most out of what God has given me… my time, my talents or giftings, the resources that I’ve been given.
As Shary and I were praying about the opportunity to join Global Action almost 3 years ago we asked ourselves the question, “Is this an opportunity for us to make the greatest impact in world missions that we can?” The answer was a resounding yes.
Ephesian 5:15-17 encourages us, “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.…”
First, we must understand the overarching purpose that God placed us on earth. Second, we must understand what God has given us. And last, after getting a grip on those two things, we must understand how we combine them to make the most of our time on earth. It brings our life and priorities into focus.
Now, I pose the question to each of you, “How can you make the most of your time here on earth?”
I encourage you to post on this blog. I would love to hear your answers and I’m sure you will inspire many others with your comments.
