Abiding in Christ
Jesus said in John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me, you can do nothing."
Abiding = much fruit. No fruit = not abiding. We all want fruit in our lives, right? Think about it for a second... no one wants to leave behind a life without meaning and purpose. That is the essence of being a Life-Changer for Christ. Making a difference for Him through the fruit of our lives. This means that in order to be a Life-Changer and to make our maximum difference for the Kingdom, we need to be abiding in the Lord each day.
We abide in the Lord when we remain in Him and He in us. (John 15:5) We remain in Him when we prioritize Him before busyness, money, things, and fleshly or worldly desires. "Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." (1 John 2:15). Last week, we talked about the importance of delighting in the Lord - this same principal applies in 1 John 2. We become what we love in our hearts.
Let's do a heart check and see what is driving us and where our affection toward God truly lies ... where are our time, energy and resources spent? If the Lord isn't first in importance here, then it's time for some inward renovation!
Let's abide with the Lord today and follow His lead in our activities and priorities. Begin spending time in prayer and Bible study today. Begin touching lives for Christ every day and watch His love spread!
