Bob Smith - Interim President

Bob Smith is a senior executive, general counsel, strategic advisor, negotiator, manager and leader of large-scale  transactions. A trusted advisor to Boards of Directors and senior corporate leadership teams, and a recognized corporate governance expert, he also serves as director on a public company board. His experience spans public company spin-offs, major litigation, and significant regulatory strategy, to building high-performing legal teams.  His ability to deliver outstanding value by providing clear communication, sound advice, and innovative and effective results across the full range of critical business and legal challenges has enriched all his work. Bob provided advice to Congress regarding the creation of national policy that became the Dodd-Frank Act.

As Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the Columbia Pipeline Group, Inc. (now TransCanada Corp.), Bob served as Member of the Executive Council, Benefits and Risk Management committees, Columbia’s Foundation, and was a Board member of Columbia Pipeline Partners, Ltd. (CPPL). Reporting to the CEO, he managed all aspects of a 37-person legal department, provided proactive and strategic leadership to the CEO, Board of Directors and the company, and led Columbia’s merger with TransCanada by negotiating the transaction and driving cross-functional teams to a successful closure. Bob oversaw legal operations and strategy, including major litigation, corporate transactions, commercial matters, corporate governance, securities, regulatory, corporate compliance and ethics, document retention and environmental audit; strategically settled multi-million dollar complex litigation; assisted with the recruitment and on boarding of new directors; and led multiple, complex, large-scale transactions (Columbia’s $8 Bn spin-off from NiSource and MLP formation and $1.2Bn IPO; the NiSource’s/Columbia’s $4.5Bn finance restructuring; and Columbia’s $1.4Bn follow-on equity offering).

Bob is committed to and passionate about helping the less fortunate and sharing the love of Christ.  He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global Action, an international compassion and training organization. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the El Faro Ephraim Foundation, a Foundation supporting training and compassion efforts in Guatemala.


Robert J. Koerper (RJ) - VP of Training and Curriculum

R.J. Koerper is the Vice President of Training and Curriculum of Global Action, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Prior to that, R.J. was lead teacher and pastor of discipleship of Northern Hills Church in Brighton, Co. and served there for six years.  During those six years R.J. also taught for GLOMOS since 2011 in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and most recently the Ukraine.

R.J. grew up in Montana, graduated from Montana State University in Billings, went on to Western Seminary in Portland and graduated with an M Div degree.  After a year in the pastorate, R.J. and his family moved to Colorado, where R.J. served as an associate professor in the Biblical Studies department at Colorado Christian University, creating the Youth Ministry major, and later co-created the Outdoor Leadership Minor.  R.J. taught full time for 24 years, then part time for five before leaving CCU in 2015 to pastor full time in Brighton.  R.J. also had a part time counseling practice for 20 years.  R.J. has ministered extensively internationally, leading youth conferences in Northern and Southern Ireland, Mexico City, and Tijuana, and adult conferences in Poland and the Ukraine.   R.J. is married to Ermelinda, has two grown daughters, Sarah and Amy and three grandchildren.  In his free time, R.J. loves hanging out with his wife, running, and doing most anything outdoors.

Nasko Lazarov has 20+ years of experience, serving both in the world of missions and in church settings. Prior to his joining Global Action, he served as US Director for Mission Possible USA. Together with his wife, Irena, they served as youth pastors and pastors of young adults at one of the largest youth ministries in their home country, Bulgaria...
