Global Scholar Update: Sabin Lepcha, Calcutta Bible College

Periodically a Foundations student rises to a shining level of remarkable skill and giftedness and are granted a full-ride scholarship to an excellent Bible collect or seminary in their area. Not only do they have the opportunity to go deeper in their biblical formation, but they will also give back by serving on Global Action’s team to help equip other leaders in their region! 

Sabin Lepcha began his Master of Divinity program in 2023 at Calcutta Bible College in Kolkata, India. He is now nearing the finish line, preparing for his final exams in a few months before graduating in 2026! 

Sabin first heard his calling to vocational ministry during his Foundations program in 2022. Alongside Global Action faculty, he recognized his desire for growth and maturity in sharing the gospel and attaining higher theological education to support his ministry skills. His sending church reports recognizable growth and laser focus on his program. During a recent break from courses, Sabin returned home to share the gospel in his community with observable mastery. This brother is primed and ready to run with his education!

What will be his next steps beyond graduation? Kingdom work is waiting for him, and he will be appointed a new role in ministry by his local church in North Bengal. “He will be an instructor as Global Action faculty, offering his expertise by teaching subjects throughout the entire region (Eastern Himalayan region) along with serving in his pastoral role,” updates Amit Mondal, Global Action Director of South Asia.

The return on Sabin’s investment in higher education, thanks in part to the generous partnership of Global Action scholar program, is a readiness to be reinvested in further gospel labor in Sabin’s community. Pray for God’s favor to complete his program and prepare him for the road ahead!
