Invest In Prayer Together: Prayer Points for South Asia

group of women praying in India

For Global Action Staff and Students:

  • Pray for Christ’s Shalom, for protection, for security of Global Action staff, students, and faculty. Every day the situation gets worse with persecution. Threats and instances of physical danger to families of pastors and leaders is a present and increasing reality. Oppressive organizations are funded and praised by the Indian government.
  • Pray for God’s provision for completion of the budget.
  • Pray for Global Action students as their Foundations is in the middle of the year, for their endurance during dangerous commutes and their incredible commitment to their education while they still work their full time jobs, lead their churches, and care for their families.
  • Pray for God to open doors for further Global Action work in neighboring countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Thailand. There is a great need to raise up leaders with theological education.

For the Indian Church:

  • Pray against intensifying persecution of Christians. The government’s aggressive stance to defend Hinduism – and persecute other faiths – has emboldened religious violence by radical Hindu groups.
  • Training for Christian workers is an urgent need. The life and health of the Church depend on [indigenous] pastors, teachers, evangelists…Most leaders and pastors received very little preparation for their work. Pray for the formal training institutions…Many teach practical skills in addition to theology. Training centers for indigenous workers (to train church planters) now also play a significant role. All Christians need training to be effective ambassadors for Christ in their society. India has more unreached individuals than any other nation. The south and northeast have a higher proportion of Christians than the more populated north and west.
  • Amidst all the suffering in India, it is women and children who suffer the most. Pray for state programs and loving Christian ministries to address these desperate needs. Pray that God will change attitudes and practices in society to reflect His care for women and children. (OperationWorld.com)

For the Andamanese Church:

  • Of the 286 people groups living in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (belonging to India) , 247 are unreached (JoshuaProject.Net). Pray for local believers (including Global Action graduates) to continue to reach their people.

For the Bhutanese Church:

  • Pray for true spiritual freedom in this “Land of the Dragon”.  The strong hold of Vajrayana Buddhism resulted in Bhutan being one of the world’s least-evangelized nations. Bon (an indigenous religion) was replaced by Buddhism, but maintains a strong occultic/demonic influence. Pray for Jesus to reveal Himself to King Wangchuk and royal family, so that they might know His love and power.
  • Pray for a fellowship of believers to witness among every ethnic group of the Bhutanese! A New Testament exists in Dzongkha (official language), but most languages have no Scriptures. (OperationWorld.com)

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven,” Matthew 5:10-12.
