About Global Action

Who We Are and Why We Exist

Since 1998, Global Action has equipped church leaders in hard places through biblical, practical, and reproducible non-formal theological training.

Around the world, Global Action comes alongside leaders who are already serving, already discipling, and already carrying responsibility in their local churches and communities.

Our History

Global Action was founded in 1998 as a non-formal training program for those called to ministry who did not have the time or financial resources to attend Bible college or seminary.

Today, Global Action continues to equip church leaders through structured, contextualized, and reproducible training. Our work is rooted in the belief that local leaders are essential to strong churches and lasting community impact.

The goal is not simply to deliver content. The goal is to form leaders who can faithfully teach Scripture, disciple others, and strengthen churches in their own contexts.

Our Approach

We use relational, contextual, in-person, and reproducible training models that strengthen leaders already serving in their own communities.

Global Action’s approach is non-formal, which means it is structured and serious, but flexible enough to serve leaders in diverse contexts. It is not simply a one-time event or information download. Leaders learn in community, apply what they are learning, and are encouraged to reproduce the training with others.

  • Modular training that can be adapted by region.
  • In-person learning whenever possible.
  • Trusted local instructors and regional leadership.
  • Practical ministry assignments and application.
  • A pathway that moves from learning to formation to multiplication.

Integrated Knowing

We help leaders grow in what they know, who they are becoming, and how they serve.

Integrated knowing means leadership formation is not only about gaining information. Church leaders need biblical knowledge, spiritual character, and practical ministry skills working together.

  • Knowing: Scripture, theology, doctrine, and biblical interpretation.
  • Being: character, humility, faithfulness, and spiritual maturity.
  • Doing: preaching, discipleship, leadership, mentoring, and community engagement.

This is what makes the training transformational. Leaders are not only learning more. They are becoming more equipped to serve faithfully.

How We Serve the Global Church Through Theological Training

Global Action provides non-formal theological education for church leaders worldwide. We do not replace local churches, seminaries, mission agencies, denominations, or ministry networks. We come alongside them to strengthen the leaders they already know and trust.

What We Focus On

We focus on non-formal theological training for church leaders worldwide, providing biblical, practical, and contextualized education for those who may not have access to formal seminary training.

How We Serve Others

We help ministries, schools, churches, and organizations strengthen the leaders connected to their work. Global Action fills an important space between informal encouragement and formal theological education.

How Impact Multiplies

When local leaders are equipped, ministry impact continues beyond one event, one trip, or one project. Trained leaders disciple others, teach Scripture, and strengthen churches.

Training That Is Biblical, Practical, and Local

Global Action’s model is designed for real leaders in real ministry contexts. Leaders learn together, apply what they are learning, and carry that training back into their churches and communities.

The Matthew 9 Initiative

Foundations, Formation, Facilitation

The Matthew 9 Initiative is Global Action’s three-level pathway that helps leaders move from biblical foundation to deeper ministry formation and then toward multiplication.

Foundations

Foundations is the first level of Global Action’s training pathway. It provides church leaders with essential biblical, theological, and practical ministry training.

Formation

Formation helps leaders go deeper. It focuses on competency, character, ministry practice, and personal growth. In some regions, including parts of Africa, leaders increasingly need recognized training or certificates to serve in certain ministry contexts.

Facilitation

Facilitation prepares leaders to multiply. It equips graduates to teach, mentor, and reproduce training with others.

01

Leaders Are Equipped

Foundations gives leaders a strong biblical and practical base for ministry.

02

Leaders Are Formed

Formation helps leaders grow in character, competency, and ministry practice.

03

Global Training in Action

Global Action’s training is not only about what happens in a classroom. It is about leaders taking biblical truth into churches, homes, and communities where long-term discipleship can multiply.

Training That Leads To Multiplication

In places like Africa, we have seen leaders go through Global Action’s training and continue discipling others even in difficult conditions. What stands out is not just participation in the program, but leaders actually taking ownership of discipleship and continuing to train others in their own churches.

Vimbai Trust Nelson has faithfully served in her local church for many years. She first completed Global Action’s Foundations program a few years ago, where she gained stronger biblical roots and, for the first time, began to feel equipped to lead. As a result, she was able to step up and help fill leadership gaps in her rural church that was struggling without a pastor.

Wanting to grow further, she joined the inaugural cohort of the Formation program, seeking not just to serve, but to multiply her impact. While Foundations had strengthened her knowledge and given her confidence, Formation challenged her to step out of her comfort zone into even greater depth of ministry.

Through the program’s competency-based approach, she was required to demonstrate her ability to disciple others in a real ministry context, pushing her beyond her comfort zone and into real ministry leadership.

She identified three women in her church who loved God and were actively involved but lacked confidence and guidance to lead. Drawing from what she learned in Foundations and deepened through Formation, Vimbai began meeting with them regularly. She walked with them through both biblical understanding and practical leadership skills, teaching them how to study Scripture, prepare lessons, and apply God’s Word to everyday life.

Through this process, Vimbai not only discipled others but discovered her own capacity for ministry in a deeper way. What once felt out of reach became possible. The competency requirements of the Formation program did not just assess her growth, they unlocked it.
