One River, Three Nations: Triple Frontier for Gospel Advance

Up and down the miles of the world’s largest river, the Amazon provides difficult access to numerous local unreached people groups. Three nationalities (Brazil, Peru, and Colombia) share a similar river culture. A high percentage of people are bilingual speaking Spanish and their local dialect. They fish and farm, are artists and craftspeople. But seminary, theological training, or access to Christian education materials are hindered by deep interior limitations.

Voodoo, animism, and demonic spirits are prevalent in the area. “During evangelism campaigns for the gospel, many will come with demonic manifestation. On the other hand, when people come to God, they have a deeply spiritual experience with the light and freedom of Christ. They have a powerful experience with the Holy Spirit. These communities need training,” shares Global Action Director of South America Yuniel Cruz.

He exudes excitement for their preparations for the new cohort coming to the Amazonia region’s triple border in June. Taking Foundations modular material and faculty, they’ll travel by boat to spend a week at a time equipping 45 church leaders for the hundreds of individual churches in the region!

Along with local kingdom influence, Brazil is the second largest missionary sending nation in the world. (ChristianityToday.com) Yuniel Cruz recently met with a local Brazilian pastor who shared, “Brazil has had huge church growth, but they don’t have access or training for leaders of huge churches. The health of the church is what we need to focus on now. This is from the Lord, this is the right time.”

Thank you for partnering in prayer and giving with your brothers and sisters in Ecuador, Colombia, and soon the Triple Border region of South America!
