The scourges of poverty, HIV/AIDS (and other diseases), Islamist militias, and state-sponsored violence all make childhood in Uganda more dangerous than it should be.” (OperationWorld.org) One of these young people is Global Action student is Andrew.

Global Action student Andrew

At only 22 years-old, he is pastoring a church in Agago, Uganda. During his teen years, he was his shepherding his church while still completing his high school education. He is passionate about missionary work and evangelism. In a nation where half of its population is under the age of 16, how will such young leaders be developed, rooted, and mature believers to lead these churches?

Global Action Academic Director Ian Amess describes this challenge. “You have very young pastors taking on these roles, yet they haven’t been trained or equipped to take on these roles. What a privilege it is for us to have these young men in our group going through the Foundations course because then they’ll be able to start on a good foundation.”

Pastor Andrew eagerly shares how Global Action is strengthening and transforming him. “Now I can interpret well through the learning we’ve undergone. We are being changed. Through Foundations, I can now share more about the Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation very well.”

Along with his cohort, he has completed modules covering interpretation of the Old and New Testament, and the life of Christ. Lectures from expert Global Action faculty, discussions with his cohort to process their knowledge, and further independent study, combined with personal life on life mentorship are galvanizing Christlike character and ministry skills of church leaders like Pastor Andrew. He has a lifetime of flourishing opportunity awaiting him as he engages his community with the gospel of Christ!
