India Summer Camp: Ajjakulu Village

"We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19

Ajjakulu village is 197 KMs away from Hyderabad city, and very hot. Because of the heat, we thought no one would show up for camp. We were surprised to see almost 100 children singing and dancing and ready to learn.

Most of the children at camp are from Hindu and Muslim background and many are from broken families living with single parents. Some parents are daily-wages' labourers and can't afford to send their children to school. These children are growing up with no proper education, seeing violence within their families, using inappropriate language, and having no discipline in life. Attending this camp was a dream for them.

We took an opportunity to spend some quality time with those children through this camp along with our GLOMOS Foundations alumni.

We told the children about the parables of  the lost sheep, lost coin, and the prodigal son. It was a wonderful time teaching about how God is our Heavenly Father and how is love for us is that of a parent. For most children, this camp experience was the first time in their lives they saw movies, watched cartoons, and received their own bible story books and colouring books.

During camp, we invited the children's parents to attend so they could witness the good things about what we were teaching and how it is making a difference in their children’s lives. By the end of the camp, an unknown Jesus became a friend and father to all those children ... over 80 children received Christ!

Once camp was over, we learned that 10 families are now regular church attendees!
