Equipped to be Sent: Foundations Graduate Deployed to New Mission Field

Settled in the coffee region of the Andes Mountains lies the city of Manizales, Colombia. Admired for its seven universities, museums and cathedrals, and renowned for its international soccer presence, Manizales is indeed a bustling metropolis of northern South America.

Spinning the globe to the west, Taranto, Italy is situated on the Ionian Sea of the Mediterranean. Seeped with Ancient Roman culture, today many Italians identify with secularism or a cultural Christianity mixed with folk superstitions (OperationWorld.com).

A world apart, two nations with people in need of Christ, what is their connection? A Colombian missionary sent to Italy!

William Piccione (pictured above with certificate) first discovered the Global Action Foundations course from a local professor. He didn’t hesitate in enrolling. He knew the benefit that theological education would have on his ministry plans.

“I have always had a strong desire to grow in knowledge and deepen my faith. For me, training is not an option, but a responsibility as a leader within the church. I felt that Foundations was a key tool to continue growing and better preparing myself to serve.

The course impacted my life significantly. I not only grew as a person, but also as a leader. Global Action helped me to strengthen my way of thinking, to affirm my convictions and, especially, to open my eyes to the importance of evangelization. I learned to better understand the gospel message and how to communicate it clearly and purposefully.”

While he first applied his theological education raising up the next generation as a youth leader in his local church, he now sets his focus on his new field of ministry across the world. 

“Currently, my ministry plans are focused on starting a new stage as a pastor in Italy. My desire is to apply everything I learned in Global Action, putting into practice the foundations acquired to serve, teach and reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Although during the time of the course I lived in Manizales, Colombia, today God has led me to serve in a new nation, and I recognize that the training received in Global Action has been a solid foundation for this new season of my life and ministry.”
