Pillar of Influence in Her Community: Moving Toward the Vulnerable with Good News

What might move in a woman’s heart to leave the security of accounting and law career opportunities to spend her days in a simple shed in a slum, sitting on patta mats surrounded by women and children from Hindu families?  

Mrs. Sailaja (pictured above right), January 2026 Foundations graduate, answers, “His Great Commission and the call to preach the Gospel inspired me deeply. I don’t know my lifespan, but I am committed to working for the Lord in the meantime.”

Growing up as an orphan and miraculously receiving Christ, Sailaja has since sought out vulnerable and marginalized women and children in her community of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Here Sailaja speaks the life transforming eternal truth and hope of Christ to the nearly 60 families she impacts! 

Language, cultural knowledge, calling from the Lord were not barriers for her ministry, but she longed for theological education and ministry skills to catalyze her gospel influence. 

“Personally, I learned many things from the training: sharing the gospel, personal evangelism. Even today I prepare preaching sermons gleaned from Foundations manuals. Before the training I had little knowledge of the Bible, but now I can prepare sermons and interpret Bible portions as per the context.” 

Among her group, Sailaja has witnessed women receive Christ, prepared for baptism, and those close to receiving Christ even in the face of fear of adversity from family.  

She’s also reaching the next generation as well, gathering 25-30 children in the community. With no nearby church, they meet outside a friend’s house for Sailaja to share Bible stories and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus. Ministry among these children also gives access to their family’s lives as well! 

One well equipped leader engages sixty women and children affected by poverty in a nation growing in adversity to Christian influence. But she’s not satisfied yet! 

“My passion or vision is winning souls for Christ. If God’s will be done, and with the help of Holy Spirit my goal is to reach, evangelize 30,000 in my life time.” 

We fully believe in Sailaja’s potential for this kind of ripple effect to build the kingdom of God! Now that she is equipped, she is engaged in seeing the life transformation in her community for Jesus Christ.
